OVERVIEW

BIS Grade School Program

Caters to pupils aged 6-12 years. Under this program are Grades 1 to 6 levels. This program is equivalent to the Department of Education's Elementary School Program, Cambridge Primary and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.

Pupils actively engage in a progressive learning experience across all subjects. They are given the opportunity to learn through experiencing ideas rather than simply memorizing facts. Teachers foster an inclusive non-threatening environment where all pupils are given equal opportunities to learn. The lessons on all instructional periods are student-centered and are designed based on the pupils’ interests, strengths, and needs.

Core subjects are based on internationally recognized standards, such as the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts, the English National Curriculum for Social Studies, and the Singapore Curriculum Framework for Science and Mathematics. Pupils also have the opportunity to develop their skills in Visual Arts, Physical Education, Information and Communication Technology (computer literacy), and Business Management (Entrepreneurship).
